Phoenix Edition 5 - Vol. B
Sinds de publicatie van de eerste editie in 1994 als 's werelds eerste serieuze poging om de geschiedenis van videogames in boekvorm vast te leggen, wordt Phoenix beschouwd als de 'Bijbel van de videogamegeschiedenis'.
The hardcover binding feels sturdy enough for the constant flipping I do while reading about gaming's earliest years, and the depth of research since that first 1994 edition really shows. A proper cornerstone for anyone serious about how this medium got started.
I've been collecting video game history books for years and this volume finally covers the 16-bit era in the kind of detail I'd only seen in scattered forum posts. The print quality on the screenshots is genuinely sharp, not the blurry scans you usually get.
The hardcover binding on this volume feels genuinely sturdy, and the paper quality makes the archival screenshots look sharp rather than muddy. As someone who grew up on these games, I appreciate that it documents the industry's early decades without the usual glossy revisionism.
