Phoenix Edition 5 - Vol. A
Depuis la publication de sa première édition en 1994, en tant que première tentative sérieuse au monde de documenter l'histoire des jeux vidéo sous forme de livre, Phoenix est considéré comme la « Bible de l'histoire du jeu vidéo ».
I bought the hardcover for the shelf, but I keep pulling it down to flip through the early chapters. The binding feels solid enough that it actually lies flat while I read.
I've been hunting for a proper video game history book for ages, and this volume finally delivers the depth I wanted. The archival photos and detailed release timelines make it easy to just flip to a random page and lose an hour.
The hardcover binding feels genuinely sturdy, and the paper quality makes the archival screenshots look sharp rather than muddy. I've been reading a few pages each night and keep finding obscure titles I'd completely forgotten about. Worth the shelf space for anyone who grew up with these games.
