Everything you need to know about the Snow Bros. Deluxe Edition for NES: what's inside, how pre-orders work, and why retro collectors are excited.
Quick answer
The Snow Bros. Deluxe Edition (8-Bit) is an open pre-order for a playable NES cartridge packed with extras, closing January 26, 2025. It's a prime pick for retro collectors who want a physical release of this classic arcade-style platformer.
Why this edition stands out for collectors
Unlike many modern re-releases, this Deluxe Edition puts the game on an actual NES cartridge, not just a collectible box. That means you can play it on original hardware without emulation. The open pre-order window gives everyone a fair shot, but once it closes, that's it—no second print run.
The 8-bit version is the original arcade conversion that started it all. For fans of retro action games, this is the authentic experience, complete with snowball-slinging chaos and ice-foe popping.
What to know before ordering
Pre-orders close on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. After that, the Deluxe Edition will not be restocked. The catalog price is $54.89, compared to a reference price of $89.99, so you're getting a significant discount off the estimated retail value.
Delivery timelines are typical for Limited Run Games: production happens after the pre-order window closes, so expect a wait of several months. This is standard for made-to-order physical releases.

- How long is the pre-order open?
- Pre-orders close on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. After that date, the Deluxe Edition will not be available again. Mark your calendar—missing the cutoff means missing this release entirely.

- No, this is an NES cartridge designed for original NES hardware or compatible clones. It will not work on Switch, PlayStation, or other modern consoles without additional adapters.
- Is this the same as the 16-bit Snow Bros. release?
- No. This is the 8-bit NES version, which is the original arcade conversion. The 16-bit version (SGN) is a separate product with different graphics and gameplay. Make sure you're ordering the one you want. Check the product title carefully—8-bit and 16-bit are distinct editions.
