Riven Big Box vs Standard: What the 2026 Release Includes

Quick answer

Choose the Riven Big Box Edition if you want the full physical package with extras; pick the Standard Edition if you just want the game at a lower price.

What the Riven Big Box Edition includes

The Riven Big Box Edition is a limited-time open pre-order from Limited Run Games, closing on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. This edition is region-free and available for PS5, Xbox, and PC. It includes the full game plus physical extras that collectors typically value, such as a big box packaging, art book, or soundtrack (specific contents may vary by platform). The catalog price is $39.64, compared to a $64.99 standard price, making it a value for those who want the extras.

Standard Edition: a simpler choice

The Riven Standard Edition (previously covered in a separate article) offers the game without the big box extras. It's typically priced lower, though exact pricing for the standard edition isn't listed here. This version is ideal if you just want to play Riven—a beautiful, mysterious world on the verge of collapse—without the physical extras. It's also region-free and available on the same platforms.

Key trade-offs between editions

The main trade-off is cost versus collectibility. The Big Box Edition gives you a premium physical package at a competitive price ($39.64 vs. $64.99), but it's a limited pre-order with a firm deadline. The Standard Edition is likely cheaper upfront and available without the rush, but you miss out on the extras. Both versions are region-free, so platform choice is the only other consideration.
